Franciscan Villa has been providing quality health care services to residents of Southeastern Wisconsin for more than thirty-five years. In 1966, the Franciscan Sisters of Little Falls, Minnesota assumed ownership of the Villa as part of their health care ministry. The Franciscan Sisters transferred ownership of the Villa to Catholic Health Corporation of Omaha, Nebraska in 1993. Catholic Health Corporation and two other Catholic health care systems sponsored by 12 congregations of women religious united in 1996 to form Catholic Health Initiatives. Franciscan Villa became a corporate member of Catholic Health Initiatives and the Franciscan Sisters maintained affiliation as a sponsoring member. Catholic Health Initiatives spans 19 states and operates 68 hospitals and 43 long-term care facilities, assisted living facilities, and residential units in 68 rural and urban communities; it represents more than 67,000 employees and is one of the largest Catholic health care organization in the United States.
